Fall Essentials! - Clothing and Accessories

Fall is definitely here. Although the weather in Evanston has not been ideal (Saturday's football game was painfully cold), the trends this season are on point! We've been counting down the days we can don these styles and now's the time to share them with you. Check out our favorite trends along with specific items, all available now in store and coming soon, online!

1. Military Jacket

Military-inspired clothing has been growing over the past few fall seasons. This year the trend is still in full effect, with cargo jackets running the game. These jackets are cute yet keep us warm in the bitter Chicago weather. We're loving these khaki, navy, and maroon colored coats.

2. Oversized Sweater

We're loving wearing oversized sweaters this season. They not only keep us super cozy and warm but also come in super chic styles. They are also long enough for us to wear leggings everyday. Who doesn't love comfort that's also classy?

3. Oxblood Pants

We are loving the dark, vampy hue of oxblood this season. Not only is fall the perfect season to wear MAC Cosmetic's lipstick in Rebel, it's also perfect to wear maroon colored clothing, especially pants. They match with all of the other colors on trend this season (khaki green, navy, cream, you name it!)

4. Fleece Lined Leggings

Although we feel this doesn't even need an explanation, we'll give you one anyways because we cannot stop singing our love for this item. Leggings have been the it-item for the past few years. They work in any season with virtually any top so they can be worn anyway from casual to formal.  These leggings in particular are heavier as they are lined with fleece. They keep us warm during the seemingly endless months of coldness we experience in Evanston. There's a reason these are our most popular item -- and only $8.98 each!

5. Infinity Scarves

Scarves are definitely a necessity for the colder months. Sometimes they are hard to wear as people have trouble wrapping them to fit a certain outfit. The solution? These circle scarves are so easy to wear and not only are they soft and warm, they are so cute too!

6. Dark Nail Polish

Fall is the season of dark, mysterious colors. We have a wide range of different shades and finishes at a super low price too - $2.98 each -  so you can change your polish everyday to match your outfit.

The Biggest Jewelry Trend at Envy

New fashions are usually reactions to old or fading fashion, and jewelry trends follow the same pattern. Over the last few seasons, large and chunky costume jewelry made center stage, and your whole outfit would be centered around one large brightly colored necklace. Bubble necklaces, bib necklaces, the bigger, the better.

However, almost as an immediate reaction to the statement necklace, everyone seems to be flocking towards the dainty chain pendant necklaces. One of the most popular brands is Dogeared. They sell small, understated pieces. Sometimes geometric shapes such as triangles and hearts, and sometimes corky pendants such as wish bones and elephants. The shape that is most trending is the circle, called Karma (what goes around, comes around).

The Trend that Never Leaves

Denim is seasonless. And that's especially true in Chicago, where the typical girl is always on the go and the weather is ever-changing.

A denim shirt is essential all year round, and is definitely an investment piece. It is common for a girl to have a denim shirt in multiple washes: dark, medium, and light.

Once you have 1 (or 3) denim top, you WILL grab for it on a weekly basis and you WILL wear it all year long.

The denim-on-denim trend is extremely popular among style bloggers and Instagram users alike. It's actually fairly easy to do as long as you follow the general rule:

Make sure your denim colors are

obviously different shades of blue.

Of course, this is a general rule. But if you're unsure this double-denim trend in fear of 

the Jay Leno Canadian Tuxedo resemblance, then it's a good rule to have.

Envy girl Kristi grew up in the 90's so has had a denim shirt tied around her waist all summer long.

Follow Kristi's advice for an easy transition into fall:

"I use my denim shirt almost similar to a lightweight denim jacket. I love having it at the train station in the morning and going home after work. But throughout the day when it's too hot for long sleeves, I keep it around my waist."
