Trends We Hope Continue Through 2015

Now that 2014 is coming to a close, we've begun to reflect on some of our favorite trends from the year. Here are some of the trends we enjoyed the most that we hope continue throughout 2015.

Leather has been trendy for the past couple years and we hope it will continue. We loved seeing both leather detailing on clothing, like trim or sleeves, and full on leather items like leggings or skirts!

Although they are relatively new to the fashion scene, we can't get enough of twist front tops. We would love to see more of these in the future because they make such unique layering pieces.

Remember in like, 2005, when ponchos were all the rage? Well now they are back and (much) better than ever! We can't wait to see what types of ponchos and capes will come out next.

Military jackets are another item that have been popular the past few years. Every year they keep getting cuter and more fashionable to wear! We had so many different styles fly out of our doors this year. We saw not just the typical olive green but navy, and also had mixed materials with leather or knitted sleeves! We love how they keep us warm but still keep us super chic.

Our Weekend Pinterest Crushes

So it's pretty obvious that we've been spending A LOT of time on Pinterest lately -- But in reality, because of all the amazing ideas we get-- we can categorize Pinterest as a productive distraction, so Pinteresting is definitely justified in Envy's book.

We took to Pinterest to find the perfect casual weekend look, and there's a few we're crushing on:

1) Piko Perfection:

Envy has been carrying Piko tops as a basic for over a year now.
Why we love them:
- They're long enough to wear with leggings on a comfy day, but SO easy to dress up with a cute scarf and boots (see above).
- It's not just a day-to-night top--> It's a day-to-night-to-nighttime top. Seriously. It's so soft you won't want to take it off, and you will end up sleeping in your Piko top and not be mad at all.
- Flattering and forgiving, pass me the Christmas cookies!

2) Dress-Up Casual
http://www.pinterest.com/pin/319896379756671493/
This look dominates Pinterest-- all the fashion bloggers are all over the comfy-sweater-&-skater-skirt look, anddddd it's adorable. It's feminine and trendy at the same time. Definitely a look worth recreating for a casual Saturday!

3) Leg Warmers

Again, a Pinterest staple. But I mean, look at them, they're adorable. The mere presence of Leg Warmers in your outfit means that you put effort and thought into getting dressed. You're just one step closer to the "Put-Together" category on the Spectrum of Outfits (official term). Sure, you could have gone the simple route & just thrown on boots over your leggings, but the leg warmers basically are saying HEY I TRIED TODAY AND I LOOK CUTE.

So Pinterest, we are crushing hard on you right now. Thanks for never disappointing.

DIY Holiday Decor From Pinterest

To get you more into the holiday spirit, we decided to share some of our favorite holiday decor DIY ideas. These are all simple and affordable ways to decorate your house. Not only are these perfect for the holiday season, they are versatile enough to use for all of winter!

1. We LOVE the glam look of an ornament wreath. They are much classier and more versatile than a typical wreath.  You can customize it to any color scheme you want! All stores sell bulk ornaments so you don't need to search for individual items to add. Make one for Christmas and one for the winter season!

2. Move over paper cut outs, popsicle stick snowflakes are taking your place! As cute as paper snowflakes may be, the look of wooden stick ones are much more mature. We love the shabby chic look of the wood, but also think painting them or even adding sparkle would be fab! And, as one of the tutorials suggests, why stop at just snowflakes? There are plenty of other holiday or winter themed decor you can easily make using popsicle sticks and glue!

3. Obsessing over the mason jar trend, or simply feeling crafty? Well, we say yes to both and thus love mason jar snow globes. You can put whatever you want inside depending on the theme of your house for the holidays. These also make awesome and affordable stocking stuffers, house warming presents, or secret santa gifts!

4. We have seen super glittery and glam artwork all over the place. Although they are so pretty, they are so pricey! Why not make your own glitter deer canvas? Not only will you be saving lots of money, no one will have the same one as you (but everyone will all want to know where you got yours from!) You can also make canvases to match with holiday themed phrases to sparkle up the whole room. Not only is this a perfect holiday decoration, but you can make these to last year round by putting favorite quotes or words instead! This is also another great gift idea.
